William Justice Bruehl

Writer & Emeritus Professor of Theatre Arts, Stony Brook University

William Justice Bruehl lives in Seneca, SC. An artist/scholar who earned his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania. A Professor Emeritus of Theater Arts at Stony Brook University on Long Island, he wrote more than 25 plays, many of which have been produced. He was awarded a fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts and has turned his playwright’s skills to narrative fiction and poetry. Bruehl has published six books, including his study of the psychology of acting entitled The Technique of Inner Action. Most recently he has published 3 collections of short stories including Coupling, which has been rewarded with four 5-star reviews by national reviewers. The stories explore the successful marriage of a professional couple on Long Island, New York. His collection of poetry is called The Fearsome Colors of Forsythia. He published a novel about the Korean War entitled The Final Retreat from Yudam NI. Now he is working on a novel exploring the trans crisis.
