Alexandra M Lord is a historian of medicine. She is the author of Condom Nation: The US Government’s Sex Education Campaign from World War I to the Internet (2010). Her current book project, Bridge: Suicide and Its Afterlife in an American Family, draws on her family’s multi-generational history of suicide to explore how suicide has impacted American families over the past 150 years.
