Ansgar Allen is lecturer in education at the University of Sheffield, UK, editor-in-chief at Erratum Press and co-founder of Risking Education, an imprint of Punctum Books. His writing has been published across a range of journals, books and media, appearing in Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, Czech, Estonian, Farsi and Greek translation. His books include a short history of Cynicism, and the novels Black Vellum, Plague Theatre, The Wake and the Manuscript, Wretch, and The Sick List. He is based in Sheffield, UK.
