Carol Graham

Carol Graham is a senior fellow in the Economic Studies programme at the Brookings Institution, a College Park professor at the University of Maryland, and a senior scientist at Gallup. Her books include The Pursuit of Happiness: An Economy of Well-Being (Brookings, 2011), Happiness for All? Unequal Hopes and Lives in Pursuit of the American Dream (Princeton University Press, 2017), and The Power of Hope: How Wellbeing Science Can Save Us from Despair (Princeton, 2023). She is the author of over 70 academic articles and is currently serving on a UN high level expert group to consider new indicators of progress to complement GDP. She is the mother of three beautiful (now grown up) children.
